General Services Portering is part of the General Services section within Student and Campus Services. Our aim is to provide a high standard of service to all staff and students.

Location
General Services Portering is located and provided at Mile End, Whitechapel and Charterhouse Campus.
Opening Times
Opening times for business is between 8am-4pm Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays and bank holidays.

Request for Services
Performance Objectives
General Services Portering provides the following service:
- Small office moves
- Furniture disposal
- Exam set ups
- Reception cover for out-of-hours events (booking form attached)
- Furniture storage (limited)
- Fridge/electrical equipment removal (chargeable)
- Large and small event set-ups
- Room set-ups
- Advice on crate hire and large departmental moves available can be given by the General Services Supervisors at Mile End/Charterhouse Square and Whitechapel
- Large departmental moves
- Times allocated against daytime jobs (except exam/event set-up)
- Exceptionally heavy equipment moving (to be assessed first)
- Recycling collection
Making a request for porterage services:
Requests for all services should be made through the Estates helpdesk by dialling 2580. When providing details of your request please remember to provide the following information:
- Contact name and number
- Location
- Detailed information of the job
- DATE job required (where possible will try to meet exact date)
Our performance objectives are:
- To carry out job requests within a 48-hour period
- To respond to emergencies requests within a 3-hour period
- To provide a highly proficient, motivated and effective workforce, which is committed to providing a high standard at all times.
